After UP and Assam, MP and Chhattisgarh govts also announce free COVID-19 vaccination for all above 18 years

Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh governments have decided to provide free vaccines to all from the age of 18 years.

The Assam government has decided to give free vaccines to all from 18 to 45 years. Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Centre is giving free vaccines to people above 45 years. He said that funds collected under Assam Arogya Nidhi last year would be utilized to procure vaccines. He said that the Health department had placed an order yesterday to buy 1 crore doses. AIR Correspondent reports, Assam has recorded 1651 cases during the last 24 hours while 3 persons succumbed to COVID-19. Kamrup Metro district has registered the highest 742 cases in this period.

The Assam government issued SOP yesterday to contain a spike in COVID-19 for those districts which have minimum 100 active cases. As per the guidelines, all marketplaces, shops, supermarkets and weekly markets will be closed by 6 pm. The Assam government encouraged working from home and virtual mode. On the other hand, 50 per cent students should attend in person on a day in educational institutes. Public transport to be operated with 50 per cent capacities. The order also restricted the number of guests in private functions including marriages to 100. Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah said, the situation in Assam is not so alarming but appealed all to follow the guidelines.
Uttar Pradesh government has also decided to administer COVID vaccine free of cost to all those above 18 years of age from May 1. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Cabinet also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for opening up vaccination for all above 18 years of age.
The statement issued after the cabinet meeting said that the state government will take forward the vaccination programme with its own resources. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the PM's decision will help in better management of COVID and massive vaccination will help in defeating coronavirus.

The Madhya Pradesh government today announced that all adults above the age of 18 years would be provided free COVID-19 vaccination in the state from May 1. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Earlier Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that it is possible to face COVID crisis only with the cooperation of the government and society.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also announced to provide CoVID-19 vaccination free of cost to all above 18 years of age and urged the centre to make sufficient quantities of vaccine available to the state.
In a tweet, the Chief Minister said that the state government will bear the cost of vaccines to be administered to all above 18 years of age. He said that the Chhattisgarh government is committed to take all steps to protect the lives of people.
